Jim Gaylord

Jim Gaylord is a painter and sculptor using elements of formalism, geometry, and ornamentation to construct spaces that are simultaneously elegant and strange.

He balances between a sense of mystery and specificity and finds order and logic among shapes that otherwise appear idiosyncratic or elusive. Breaking from a catalogue of dense, bold, colorful works, Gaylord’s current monochromatic reliefs made from cutout watercolor paper are distilled explorations of imagery and form.
