Miguel Ángel Payano Jr. is a Dominican American artist working across painting, sculpture, and hybrid sculptural forms.
Blurring the boundary between two and three dimensions, Payano creates whimsical and maximalist portraits centered around his recurring character, the “mouthed peach.” Drawing on personal history and global cultural references, his practice examines how symbols mutate across borders and contexts, reflecting on the visual identity of transcultural being and global citizenship.
