Bianca Fields
Bianca Fields creates figurative paintings that often depict feminized primates as allegorical stand-ins for the self.
Fields constructs visual spaces that hover between vulnerability and volatility through layered, visceral mark-making and bold color. The paintings are rendered in a wet-in-wet technique with expressive brushwork and competing focal points. She explores themes of repression and psychological captivity, examining the performative dimensions of femininity, identity, and power.
