Carl E. Hazlewood is a versatile artist focused on reinvigorating abstraction through a range of mediums.

His work encompasses permanent mixed-media pieces, spontaneous installations, and the inventive use of everyday materials. Hazelwood’s dynamic approach blurs the distinction between the ephemeral and defined, employing light, space, and surface to respond to unique environments, often reflecting personal and cultural memories.  Inspired by landscapes and skin tones, his manipulation of color is a central theme. By combining formal and informal elements, Hazelwood subtly references the contemporary social landscape and offers a positive interpretation of his lived experiences as a self-proclaimed ‘border-crosser’ in transcultural, social, and artistic realms.
